Carolyn’s Corner
I saw the body of Christ, living and breathing. I saw God's family working together to accomplish what was clearly over my head.
Had I realized the enormity of making raised planting beds, I would not have attempted such a thing. When a friend first said, “I'll help you with that project,” I thought, “We can do this; it will be fun.”
Ha! That was before my brother, Steve Byers, estimated that we would need ten tons of dirt (soil)! Really? Ten tons!
Dawn came over the mountain. This was no “a few bags of dirt (soil) every now and then when we have time” project. This was a “gotta get a lot of help” project. I figured that I could count on my son, Darrin. John Snyder & Phil Cormany, faithful volunteers, had offered to help but, come on, ten tons of dirt (soil)!
I prayed for more help. Pastor Fox volunteered his teens, Christian and Hudson. God reminded me of other times that He had been faithful to send help when I had a need. What was ten tons of dirt (soil) to Him?
Audrey Knode asked some teens about helping. Their dad, Steve Buswell, was nearby and volunteered to come on Friday. He showed with Steven, Gabrielle, 8 year-old Kathryn and shovels. Phil came from Montgomery County with a wheelbarrow, more shovels and brooms. In three hours we had moved over five tons of dirt (soil) from my front driveway to my back planting beds. I was amazed!
Saturday dawned bright and clear, an answer to prayer. Phil was already in the back yard before I knew he was there. John came bearing more shovels, a wheelbarrow and a box of donuts. Christian and Hudson Fox came with shovels and a willingness to work.
Darrin, Li and Sophia, my son and his family, worked enthusiastically. Wally Ogungbesan arrived and quietly pitched in, adding his much needed hands to the task. Dan, another son, drove up from Virginia , making a total of seven adults, two teens and one eight year-old girl.
We moved another 8 tons of dirt (soil), transplanted huge forsythia bushes, landscaped trees with borders and gravel and protected my neighbors fence with fabric. We even took time to fellowship around John's delicious donuts.
We fellowshipped some more while we ate lunch and waited for even more dirt (soil) to be delivered. Sophia cheered, “More dirt has arrived!” She's so like her grandmother: it all just looks like dirt to us.
We soon discovered the real reason that God had providentially put ten believers together. It was so we could hold a prayer meeting, petitioning God to intercede for the children attending the Character Building Clubs in Carroll County . We had a precious prayer time.
I saw the living, breathing Jesus today as His body functioned in the way He said it should. “By this will all know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35 NKJV).
Thank you, dirt (soil) crew for your labor of love. Thank each of you who pray and give and volunteer as unto the Lord for the children. Thank you for being that part of the body of Christ that exemplifies John 13:35.
Have a blessed Christmas!

A donor, who recently switched her way of giving to EFT, was enthusiastic about knowing that we would receive her check even if she gets busy or forgetful. She approached me with a glint in her eyes and suggested, “I think you need to remind people how easy it is to give with EFT. Put it your next newsletter.”
When our donor called me the next day, she had coined a phrase: “No sweat, no forget.”
With our EFT (electronic funds transfer system), you can now arrange to DESIGNATE your regular monthly donation to CBM electronically.

Character Building Clubs Have an Influence
A first grader, who attends a Character Building Club in Carroll County , was excited. Her public school teacher said that the children could bring any book from home they wanted to read in their free reading time.
She told her mom, “I'm going to bring my pink Little Princess Bible to read at school.” Her mom asked, “Are you sure you want to take your Bible to school?” She was sure so the Little Princess Bible went to school.
The mom called me and thanked me for the club and the influence in the children's lives.

We have a pledge of $50,000.00 to be given when God gives CBM of MD a camp of our own.
There exists no better event, than to have someone (especially a child) accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. If we've been given the opportunity to help make this happen, then to let it slip through our fingers will surely be a tragedy, not only for our lost rewards, but of course, for the soul deprived of God's word. No one is saved without hearing the Good News of the Gospel .“So then, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” Rom 10:17 ( From a Faithful Donor)
If God lays it on your heart to give, please mark your donation “Camp Property Fund.”
